FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my yarn not match the photo exactly?
The nature of hand dyed yarn lends to variations between skeins in the same batch as well as between dye lots. Furthermore, my photography skills are not the greatest. Additionally, picture color can vary between screens and devices. All of these things combined may lead to skeins that do not look exactly like pictured. It is recommended to alternate skeins every row or two on large projects. If you are truly unhappy, please consult my return policy here.
What is a Driftwood colorway?
A Driftwood skein is a one of a kind color that can not be repeated. Whether it was a test for a new and upcoming color or skeins used to mop up extra dye, each is unique and no less beautiful. If you have a favorite and there are multiple skeins, it is recommended that you purchase the amount necessary for your intended project quickly before it’s gone.
When will my order ship?
Ready to ship skeins will ship in 1-3 business days. Dyed to order skeins typically will ship in 1-2 weeks. I will use instagram/facebook/direct communication to keep you appraised of any chances to this timeline. If you order RTS and DTO skeins in the same order, it will all ship when the DTO skeins are ready. Please place separate orders if you’d like your RTS skeins sooner.
* Due to Covid-19, all orders are being shipped on Mondays on a weekly basis. Orders placed before 8pm EST Sundays will be shipped next day. *
Will you combine shipping?
Yes, absolutely! To the best of my ability. I will then refund any overages over $3.
There will be some times when I do not combine orders (especially international orders) because shipping can get outrageous and it’s cheaper to send separate packages.
What do you use to ship your yarn? Why are you using so much plastic?
I am trying to be very conscious of the environment. At this time, I have opted to use recycled reusable polymailers from EcoEnclose as well as a recyclable plastic bag.
I debated for awhile if I wanted to ship the yarn in plastic, paper or just in the mailer. I ultimately decided on plastic due to the nature of the mail service. Nothing against USPS but we’ve all gotten that package that was beat to sh*t. By placing your yarn in plastic, it is my hope that everything comes to you in one piece even if the outer packaging rips.
Will you wind the yarn for me?
Yes. For a small fee, I will absolutely cake your skeins for you. Please use this listing here and use the quantity selector to let me know how many skeins to cake. If your purchase is more skeins that what you’d like caked, please tell me in the order notes which one(s) to do.
Do you have any animals? Where there be any animal hair on my product?
Yes, there are 4 cats and 1 dogs as well as 3 other humans in this house besides me. 2 of the cats and the dog have absolutely no access to my dye studio space. I try my best to keep all finished product away from the remaining 2 cats. That said, one cat (Zoe) is pretty much always with me when I’m down working in my studio. Please keep this in mind when placing an order.
Do you have any sweater quantity discounts?
Yes. I try to have this on each listing but you can use the code sweater10 for 10% off 4-6 skeins and code sweater15 for 15% off 7+ skeins.
Can I touch/feel/buy your yarn in stores?
Unfortunately no, not at this time. Hopefully soon though!
Do you offer wholesale?
Absolutely. Please use this form to tell me a little about yourself and why your store would be a good fit for my yarn. I’ll contact you in 1-2 business days once I have reviewed your application.
